Available synchrotron facilities

Australian Synchrotron

The Australian Synchrotron officially opened on 31 July 2007 and has an initial suite of 13 beamlines, 9 of which are currently under construction or have recently been commissioned. These will become progressively available to users as they are fully commissioned.

Overseas synchrotrons

The Australian Synchrotron also administers access to a number of other Australian government supported synchrotron facilities overseas. These were formerly administered by the Australian Synchrotron Research Program.

Facilities supported:

• Australian National Beamline Facility (ANBF), Photon Factory, Japan
• Advanced Photon Source, Chicago, USA
• National Synchrotron Radiation Research Centre (NSRRC), Taiwan

Access and travel funding information can be obtained from the Australian Synchrotron's webpage on Australian access to overseas synchrotrons.

For access to other overseas synchrotrons, users should apply directly to the facility. If beamtime is awarded, then travel support is available via:

• Access to Major Research Facilities Program
• International Synchrotron Access Program (ISAP), administered by the Australian Synchrotron
