Areas of interest:

George’s interests span most fields of applied physics as well as electronic instrumentation for data acquisition and signal conditioning. George worked for six years in the Geophysical Instrumentation Development Group at Monash University prior to joining the MCSS early 2006, having developed and field-trialled a number of sensitive instruments for geophysical data acquisition for commercial applications. Over the years, George has gained experience in a wide range of electronic instrumentation and sensors for physical measurements. Since joining the MCSS, George has been working on design and construction of a number of prototype gas based detectors as well as characterisation of compound semiconductor detectors.

Current development projects:

  • Characterisation of CZT and CdTe detectors

Previous development projects:

  • "Thick" GEM detector and readout structures
  • 200*200mm gas proportional counter for SAXS/WAXS
  • Prototype beam intensity monitor for Synchrotron beamlines
